"Built for the industry, By the industry."

The concept of a paperless system to perform a risk assessment was envisioned in 2016 when Christian Savvakis started a small Electrical Contracting Business. Partnering in business with Wayne Goggin in early 2017 the pair were struggling to read the handwriting of six staff while invoicing, and 'drowning' in paperwork from the hundreds of jobs being done each week.

Performing a Job Safety Analysis (JSA) or Risk Assessment with control measures from Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) before any task was made mandatory in January 2014 for all employees of a business. However, a simple but effective tool to do a JSA, had always remained elusive.

Our next step as a business was to look at employing office staff to process the mountain of paperwork that our guys out on site were producing to be compliant with Work Safe QLD  for example: JSA's, time sheets, materials lists and purchase orders into a format ready for invoicing. As well as filling out incident reports, doing pay runs, reconciling accounts, paying bills and the list goes on...

In 2017 the concept was put to task. After months of brainstorming and programming Christian showed Wayne a program he had made. The program collected even more information than the current paper system they had adopted, but eliminated the paper and reduced the amount of time it took by 70%. The system could compile the clients details, purchase orders, time sheets, materials lists, electrical test results and JSA's in one pdf file.  All this information is stored using a cloud service meaning that no expensive servers or equipment would be required.

Christian and Wayne decided to implement the system in their business and productivity saw an 80% increase. Invoicing was no longer difficult, employees now only took 5 minutes to do an effective JSA, employees could take photos and videos of the work they had done, no paperwork was lost and was all presented in a neat and tidy format and best of all NO MORE PAPER, it was all stored in a cloud service and readily available at a moments notice.

Now we are taking it to the industry to try and educate the industry about the benefits of using this program as it has worked so well for our company.

  • Industry compliance

  • Profit margins grow

  • Environmentally friendly as there is no more paper required

  • Staff actually completing their JSA before work starts and tracking of this.

  • Geo location pin drops to prove staff were onsite

  • Recording of data to see were there are trends of accidents, incidents, near misses and more......

Registered Data Cabler

Founder of iCompliance

Started as an apprentice in 1993. Learned good work ethics from the employer and gained skills at motor rewinding, switchboard building, data cabling, and contracting in domestic, commercial, industrial and mining industries.

Started as a sole trader with sub-contracting in mines, shopping centres, concrete batching and manufacturing plants, commercial and industrial properties until 2001.

Worked as Facilities Manager of a large Shopping Centre Complex for a year, learning the other side of being a tradie, and managing security, cleaners, tradespeople, landscapers, internal staff and shop staff. This was challenging but achieved all personal goals and management targets.

After a further 5 yrs. of sub-contracting, started Goggo’s Electrical Services in 2007. Purchased an early Safe Work Method Statement (SWMS) package and personally developed it further into a comprehensive package while working on commercial and industrial projects across Qld with up to 14 staff.

On the 12/12/2012, a job at a local college required entry into a timber truss ceiling space to run very-low-voltage cables for security sensors. Power could not be isolated as the college did not want to interrupt the running of the school. An employee entered the ceiling space and was electrocuted by a non-compliant 240V cable.

Losing a very close friend and co-worker was a life shattering experience for all involved. Then, having to defend seven charges prosecuted in August 2014 by Qld Work Health and Safety was an incredibly difficult, emotionally and financially draining experience. After hearing the prosecution case, the Magistrate dismissed all charges. He made a rare ruling of ‘no case to answer’ because a proper written Risk Assessment and proper staff instruction had been done before the job began, and no regulations had been broken.

In 2017, with Christian’s encouragement, partnered in North Point Power and Data Pty Ltd and started back in business. North Point Power and Data has been built in less than 12 months to have eight employees and growing strong.
